First make peace with your brother

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift."
 Matthew 18:15

Always thought the scripture was about us apologizing if we sin against another person. I never knew God asked us to apologize even when we're right (most of the time we think we're right even when we're not eh?).

It's easier to apologize when we know we've done wrong. But to apologize to the other person who have done you wrong is against the norm, or rather against our shame-driven culture.

But in the God-driven culture of love, he wants us to reconcile with our enemies regardless whose fault it was.

Doing what God wants us to do can sometimes be so hard, but the fruits of following His Word is indeed worth it all.

  1. Yes, this is one of the hardest lessons I had to learn, but I hope and pray it's made me a better person for it :)
I'm not saying it will ever be totally easy for me, but it's amazing how the next time doesn't feel so bad, and the next time after that it's even easier.
God knows us so well, that even the things he asks of us that we find strange, have a deeper reasoning, and that takes us out of ourselves, and puts us in the other person's place of reference :)

  2. Yeah, sometimes when it comes to God's Word we wouldn't truly understand it until we try it out. And then it all makes sense.

Indeed, His thoughts are higher than ours.
